This is an update regarding flood damage that occurred in your area on August 28, 2023. The District continues to work in close cooperation with representatives from FEMA, the Regional Intergovernmental Council, WV Emergency Services, New River Engineers, and other federal, state, and local officials regarding the flood restoration project. The project has recently received clearance from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and is currently being reviewed for cultural and historical impact. This review is anticipated to be completed within the next couple of weeks. The next step in the process will be Congressional Notification followed by a review by Homeland Security. These reviews are necessary to comply with federal, state, and local requirements and may take several months to complete. Your continued patience throughout this lengthy process is greatly appreciated.
